Westborough became a Trust School in 2010. In doing so the school changed in a number of ways. Some interesting facts and information about our Trust Status are given below:

What employers make up our Trust?

Trust status brings together Westborough with our partners The University of Huddersfield, Heckmondwike Grammar School, Kirklees College and Kirklees Council to form a ‘Partnership of Strengths’.

How dos the trust operate?

The trust provides the school with charitable status and the trust will not make a profit; instead investing fully in the education of our young people and community.
The governing body includes members from our trust partners.
The trust partners do not make financial contributions to Westborough but instead benefit the school by the sharing of expertise.
We are able to set our own admissions criteria (in accordance with the admissions code).
We employ our own staff.
We have responsibility for our school land and buildings.
We choose which partners to work with, for example businesses, business foundations, colleges, universities or community groups

We are better able to support children and young people’s all-round development, helping to tackle issues of deprivation and social exclusion
