About

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe in Pudsey, Yorkshire, is an 11-18 secondary school with a sixth form. Originally a co-operative foundation school and part of the Leeds Co-operative School’s Network, it joined the Co-operative Academies Trust in July 2017.

Facilities and Partners:

A recent £15 million investment in the school, which is a sports college, has provided further sports, drama and music facilities for pupils.

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe is an integral component of the Pudsey Confederation, along with Crawshaw and Grangefield schools. The Confederation, which has existed for 20 years, allows students be offered the widest possible post-16 curriculum by using courses available within the three schools. These are aa mixture of A-Level and BTEC, AQA and OCR Level 3 courses. Students are also encouraged to undertake the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Values and vision:

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe bases its ethos on psychologist Carol Dweck’s principles of “growth mindset”. It believes that every student’s abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. The school aims to establish values in students which lead to strong relationships underpinned by empathy and humanity, as well as to encourage students to see that mistakes are part of the journey towards excellence.

The development of resilience, the celebration of diversity and a commitment to working collaboratively with the wider community to promote learning, respect and social justice are all part of the school’s mission.
